The Mahar Child

A Story of Pellucidar by Matt Miller

wolf

Introduction

Pellucidar was invented by Edgar Rice Burroughs, one of the most successful writers who ever lived. He is most famous for Tarzan books but also wrote about outer space, prehistoric times, and even the wild west. Many of the books are inter-connected. For example, Tarzan himself goes to Pellucidar in Tarzan at the Earth's Core.

Pellucidar is also a role-playing game. It is called Pellucidar but it really covers all three of Burroughs' most famous worlds -- the Tarzan world, Barsoom (the Mars world), and of course Pellucidar (the inner world). My friend Linus and I played a lot in the Tarzan world with our characters, Zartan the pirate and Bob the parrot. Zartan and Bob never actually made it to Pellucidar until I wrote this story. I wrote this between 1982 and 1984, and dedicated it to my friend Linus.

Don't worry if you have never heard of Pellucidar. Everything is explained in the story. If you do know about Pellucidar, you can skip those parts.
